The Harris Museum Preston

We had an amazing trip to Preston, to see the moon. This art installation is there until the end of February half term and during the holiday there will be loads of events for children.

We sketched small sections of the moon, looked at an exhibition and then went into the children’s hands-on area, where some of us built an making variety of structures from spacesuit helmets to planets.

Stargazers

Spring 1 saw us prepare to become Space Cadets and learn what it is like to go into space, what you see and how you sleep and go to the toilet!

We have made prototype rockets powered by air and are busy improving our design and scaling it up, ready for launch day.

Here we are looking at how craters are made by using different sized rocks dropped from different heights and angles. The ejecta material pattern (the spray pattern) can be seen on the moon with a pair of binoculars.

Exploring Ancient Egyptian fashions.

how you were turned out was really important to the Ancient Egyptians. This included the style of hat you wore and the trim of your beard. Make-up, for both men and women, was important too. Here we combined photographs and oil pastel to create our own fashions.

Ancient Egypt

We really enjoyed exploring how the pharaohs lived, what happened to them when they died and about the afterlife.

Mr Warhurst carried out a ‘mummification’on one of us... he did ask permission from the child’s mum!

This week we have 6 classes battling it out.

5P do your best.

5T whilst you are not involved in the battle, remember Mrs Eckton has to choose the MVP for the certificate next week.

5T Hoghton Tower visit.

The visit supported our work on the Tudors as the house was built during the reign of Elizabeth I. It is supposed to be the third most haunt...
